When I was a kid salad was lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers with Heinz Salad Cream. Yes it was very boring and even today I’m not the most creative salad maker. Eating organic invariably means I have to make my own salads. So when I heard that Nina The Rawchef was hosting a Salad Workshop at The Healthy Salon in Boca Raton I had to go.

If you’re not familiar with Nina “The Rawchef” Kauder and her Practical Wisdom and Wellness Organization, you should check her out on Facebook. As well as being a lovely lady, she is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to healthy eating. Organic, vegetarian or vegan Chef Nina is someone you should know.

We recently had Chef Nina host a salad workshop at Henrietta Bridge Farm. As one participant commented “ I could never make a salad with all of these ingredients at home. There are some I never thought to put in a salad and I could never keep all of this in my refrigerator.”

Her Salad Workshop is entertaining, educational and a lot of fun. The simplest ideas are usually the most fun as this event proves. Everybody picks two items to bring from a list published by Chef Nina. You also need to bring six jars for your salad.

You see salad in a jar is a group activity. Everybody brings two ingredients, depending on the size of your group a little duplication is ok but keep a track on who is bringing what. It’s always fun you catch up with friends and meet new ones. You never fail to learn something new.
